Pietro Bardessono was a miner at no. 6 mine and part of the shift that was killed in the 1901 disaster, on February 15th. He had been in Cumberland since the 1890s. When the fire from the explosions wouldn't go out, the mine was flooded, extinguishing any hope of survivors. He had been married to Jennie Vittone and they had two children together before his death.
Pietro was one of 5 Italian miners killed in the 1901 disaster (the 4 others were Carlo Bono, Luigi Simondi, Vincenzo Crossetti, and Antonio Maffido). Pietro was buried in the Cumberland cemetery in block M-27.
