Shoso Tomihiro was born in Hiroshima, Japan in 1892. His brother, Senichi Tomihiro, was a shareholder in Royston Sawmill Company Ltd. and encourage Shoso to emigrate. Shoso worked as a local sales representative for the Royston Sawmill Company Ltd. for 20 years before internment in 1942 saw the removal of Japanese communities across the coast. After internment, Shoso and his family settled in Toronto. He and his wife had 7 children.
