History
Water pumps were used to remove ground water that might have seeped into the mine and to feed the water hoses used to spray active digging sites as a means of dust control.
This image is part of the Fagan Collection, which contains colour photographs, black and white photographs and correspondence. Patrick Fagan was the paymaster for Canadian Collieries in Cumberland, Nanaimo, and Victoria.
