Frank (or John Franck) Bobba was born in Torino, Italy on October 19th, 1888. He worked as a fireboss at the No. 6 mine. As fireboss, he was responsible for ensuring the safety of the mines, inspecting them for dangerous gases and fires. On June 3rd, 1917, Frank and four others were inspecting the mine site after an explosion when they encountered deadly carbon monoxide gas. Undetected until it was too late, the group died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Frank was married to Catherine "Katie" (nee Tobacco) Bobba. They had a son, Charles Bobba, and had lived at 2697 Penrith. Frank was buried in the Cumberland cemetery in block Q-8. The inscription on his grave reads: "In loving memory of Frank Bobba b. Oct 19 1888 d. June 3 1917, Gone but not forgotten".
