Hoy Mah was a tracklayer in the No. 6 mine who died on February 15th, 1901 when an explosion tore through the mine. He would have been responsible for laying down the rail tracks the carts would travel on. Unfortunately discrepancies in the recording of Chinese fatalities of the disaster have caused difficulties in identifying Chinese casualties, with names having been misspelled or mis-recorded.
