History
The artist of this piece is unfortunately unknown. Dating to approximately the 1930s, this example of Chinese silk embroidery was likely made by one of the Chinese women residents of Cumberland. Chinese workers immigrated to the Cumberland area in search of better employment, and often came with their families. It was previously mistakenly identified as Japanese embroidery.
