John Turner was killed in the 1923 disaster, on February 8th, when a gas explosion tore through the No. 4 mine.

The eldest son of John and Elizabeth Turner, Denheath[?], Methil[?]
Who was killed by an explosion of gas in No. 4 Mine, Canadian Collieries, Cumberland, B.C., Canada on the 8th of February, 1923.
Aged 22 years"
