History
Used to attach a cable or chain to a piece of logging equipment. Part of the George Yates Collection. All of the items in this collection had been stored outside at the Village of Cumberland work yard for a number of years before coming to the Cumberland Museum -being outside has caused some rust.
Description
The shackle is made from 4 cm (1.5 inch) diameter steel bar, bent into a "U" shape with the ends flattened and punched with holes for the shackle pin. The shackle pin is 5 cm (1.75 inch) diameter, it has a square head on one end and is threaded on the other to screw into threads in one of the shackle holes
